Had my MRI this morning. I have ordered a lot of MRIs but never had done on myself before. It was strange. The machine was a cavernous Siemens Magneto Symphony (nice name there). I had to take off everything metallic on me- watches, cell phone and all that. Fortunately, I don't have anything metallic inside me. That would have been unpleasant. I declined to have the earphones for music and chose to have ear plugs instead. Through that I could hear the rumbling of the machine and feel rhythmic thuds that the Siemens Magneto Symphony emanated. It was so soothing that I fell asleep!! No kidding. I dreamt that I was on a train -Jayanthi Janatha to be specific- and that the train had pulled into Raichur Station in Andhra Pradesh. I guess trains were on my mind. Then I heard a lady's voice saying:"all done". I was. I will not discuss the results of my MRI here. That is my business.

Yesterday was a strange day. I was listening to NPR on the way to work when the news about the train bombings in Bombay was trickling in. The death toll was 40 at that point and by the time I reached the office, it had climbed into the mid-100s. Images were being aired on CNN of Khar and Matunga and Santa Cruz. It brought back memories of a time when this kind of lunacy did not exist in Bombay. I remembered these places as stops on my way home. We were worried for our friends and loved ones. I heard from Prakash on the email. There was an air of distress in it. But he is safe and sound. We found out that Vijna's mom was safe too. Susan and her family were safe too. So were many others. I feel more sadness than anger at this point. For those who don't remember Bombay as how it was..my condolences. You should have been there. I grieve not only for those who died yesterday, but also for the Bombay as it used to be.

This Saturday we will be making a trip to Amador county. The purpose is of course, to drink a lot of wine. this is our first trip to this area and hopefully it will be a fun one. I will try to make an ongoing log of this visit.
As a late entrant to the blogging world, I have the luxury of imitating others in styles and formats. But we will end the similarities there because as millions of bloggers would testify, we all have different things to say. I too have a lot to get off my chest. But some things we will not discuss. Posting online doesn't necessarily mean I am ready to shed my privacy.
